About The Artwork:

“Pour On, I Will Endure” is a black and white art piece about resilience and the pressures we cannot control. Two ornate vases hang in midair from marionette strings, each tipped to pour a stream of beads. As the streams fall they twist around each other, echoing the intertwined serpents of the caduceus, a familiar emblem of healing. Beneath each vase, the stars of Aquarius mark the sky.

Puppet strings are a long standing symbol of control, fate, and unseen influence. Marionettes appear in ancient Greece and in the kathputli tradition of Rajasthan in India. Plato used the image in his Laws, describing humans as puppets of the gods, pulled by the cords of pleasure and pain and steadied by the golden cord of reason. In “Pour On, I Will Endure,” the strings decide the angle of the vases. They suggest forces that shape our circumstances without asking.

Vessels have held water, grain, oil, and memory for as long as people have made them. In Hindu tradition, the purna kumbha, or full pot, signifies abundance and the life force. In Greek mythology, Pandora’s jar released hardship into the world but kept hope inside. Christian scripture describes treasure carried in jars of clay, fragile containers holding something durable. Here the vases are patterned with suns and sweeping lines, and they pour steadily rather than break.

Aquarius, the Water Bearer, is traditionally pictured pouring from an urn. The Babylonians linked this part of the sky with Ea, god of fresh water, and with the rainy season. The Greeks identified the figure with Ganymede, cupbearer to the gods. In astrology, Aquarius is associated with independence and long range vision. Placed beneath the vases in “Pour On, I Will Endure,” the constellations frame the pouring as part of a larger cycle.

Together, these elements describe what it means to keep going under pressure. The strings tilt the vases, the vases empty, and what falls does not scatter but takes the shape of a healing symbol. “Pour On, I Will Endure” reads as a statement of persistence: let life pour as it will, and I will continue. This black and white art piece is about endurance rather than escape.
